As of November 5, 2024, unofficial results indicate that a majority of Elmhurst Park District voters answered “yes” to the bond referendum request to raise revenue to improve, equip and maintain parks and facilities throughout the District, including replacing the Wagner Community Center; building a community bandshell at Wilder Park; adding permanent, heated restrooms at three parks and along the Prairie Path; and converting a grass field to artificial turf at Berens Park.

Staff celebrated the birth of several baby turtles last week at the golf course. Since June, Jason, a staff member at Sugar Creek, has checked and protected a turtle nest in a sand trap on the course. On September 27, he checked the nest and noticed the turtles were emerging. The timing was great, since many baby turtles do not make it back to water by themselves if the nest is far from water.

This month, Elmhurst Park District and the Village of Villa Park were pleased to receive the Jane Foulser Habitat Award from the DuPage Monarch Project. The award is in recognition of the Sugar Creek restoration project at Sugar Creek Golf Course, which is jointly owned by the Park District and the Village of Villa Park. The award recognizes the project’s contribution to pollinator habitats within DuPage County.
